Description: The silhouette of the Space Shuttle Atlantis, STS129, against the backdrop of an orbital sunset. Appearing still in space, Nicole and her crew are inside that spaceship and traveling at 17,500 mph around our planet.  Inspired by a photo taken by Nicole’s ISS crewmate Jeff Williams during the shuttle’s departure on Nicole’s flight home after 3 months living and working on the ISS.

About the Artist: Nicole is an astronaut, aquanaut, artist, and cofounder of the Space for Art Foundation. She was the first to paint with watercolors in space, and she continues to creatively combine the awe and wonder of her spaceflight experience with her artwork to inspire everyone’s appreciation of our role as crewmates here on Spaceship Earth.  @astro_nicole
