Description: Inspired by a photo that Nicole took from the International Space Station of Christmas Island, Kiritimati.  The Pacific Ocean is dotted with many beautiful and interestingly shaped islands and atolls.  One of Nicole’s favorites is Christmas Island, which to her seemed so appropriately shaped like a cross. 

About the Artist: Nicole is an astronaut, aquanaut, artist, and cofounder of the Space for Art Foundation. She was the first to paint with watercolors in space, and she continues to creatively combine the awe and wonder of her spaceflight experience with her artwork to inspire everyone’s appreciation of our role as crewmates here on Spaceship Earth.  @astro_nicole
